So I recently got my invite to Google Wave and can I just say right now… WHAT IS GOING ON?! I consider myself pretty computer-savvy but when I logged onto Google Wave I couldn’t help but just stare for a few seconds. I laughed when I read this quote because it captured exactly how I felt when I first saw GW:
Google Wave was built to show younger people how older people feel when they try to use the internet.
I remember teaching my mom how to use email for the first time on Hotmail.com (yes, this was a long time ago). I remember how bewildered she looked during the entire course of my one-on-one tutorial with her. I had to use names like “the thin white box on the top” and say things like “press down the button on the thing that you’re holding in your right hand”…
and, in turn, she would ask questions like, “How fast do I have to press the button twice?” in response to the introduction of the word Double-Click.
Have I become her over time?
